In this tutorial we learn how to install torque-pam on CentOS 7.

What is torque-pam

TORQUE (Tera-scale Open-source Resource and QUEue manager) is a resource manager providing control over batch jobs and distributed compute nodes. TORQUE is based on OpenPBS version 2.3.12 and incorporates scalability, fault tolerance, and feature extension patches provided by USC, NCSA, OSC, the U.S. Dept of Energy, Sandia, PNNL, U of Buffalo, TeraGrid, and many other leading edge HPC organizations. A simple PAM module to authorize users on PBS MOM nodes with a running job.

We can use yum or dnf to install torque-pam on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install torque-pam.

Install torque-pam on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install torque-pam using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install torque-pam

Install torque-pam on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install torque-pam using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install torque-pam

How To Uninstall torque-pam on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the torque-pam package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove torque-pam
