How To Install tomcat8 on Debian 9

on Debian 9.
What is tomcat8
tomcat8 is:
Apache Tomcat implements the Java Servlet and the JavaServer Pages (JSP) specifications from Oracle, and provides a “pure Java” HTTP web server environment for Java code to run.
This package contains only the startup scripts for the system-wide daemon. No documentation or web applications are included here, please install the tomcat8-docs and tomcat8-examples packages if you want them. Install the authbind package if you need to use Tomcat on ports 1-1023. Install tomcat8-user instead of this package if you don’t want Tomcat to start as a service.
There are three methods to install tomcat8
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get

and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tomcat8 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tomcat8
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tomcat8

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tomcat8
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tomcat8
Install tomcat8 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tomcat8
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tomcat8
How To Uninstall tomcat8 on Debian 9
To uninstall only the tomcat8
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tomcat8
Uninstall tomcat8 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tomcat8
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tomcat8
Remove tomcat8 Configurations and Data
To remove tomcat8
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tomcat8
Remove tomcat8 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove tomcat8
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tomcat8
