In this tutorial we learn how to install tokyocabinet on Rocky Linux 8.

What is `tokyocabinet`

Tokyo Cabinet is a library of routines for managing a database. It is the successor of QDBM. Tokyo Cabinet runs very fast. For example, the time required to store 1 million records is 1.5 seconds for a hash database and 2.2 seconds for a B+ tree database. Moreover, the database size is very small and can be up to 8EB. Furthermore, the scalability of Tokyo Cabinet is great.

We can use yum or dnf to install tokyocabinet on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install tokyocabinet.

Install tokyocabinet on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install tokyocabinet using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install tokyocabinet

Install tokyocabinet on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install tokyocabinet using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install tokyocabinet

How To Uninstall tokyocabinet on Rocky Linux 8

To uninstall only the tokyocabinet package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove tokyocabinet
