How To Install toil on Debian 10

In this tutorial we learn how to install toil
on Debian 10.
What is toil
toil is:
Toil is a scalable, efficient, cross-platform and easy-to-use workflow engine in pure Python. It works with several well established load balancers like Slurm or the Sun Grid Engine. Toil is also compatible with the Common Workflow Language (CWL) via the “toil-cwl-runner” interface, which this package make available via the Debian alternativess system under the alias “cwl-runner”.
There are three methods to install toil
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install toil Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install toil
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install toil

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install toil
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install toil
Install toil Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install toil
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install toil
How To Uninstall toil on Debian 10
To uninstall only the toil
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove toil
Uninstall toil And Its Dependencies
To uninstall toil
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove toil
Remove toil Configurations and Data
To remove toil
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge toil
