In this tutorial we learn how to install tkremind on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is tkremind

tkremind is:

Remind allows you to remind yourself of upcoming events and appointments. Each reminder or alarm can consist of a message sent to standard output, or a program to be executed.

It also features: sophisticated date calculation, moon phases, sunrise/sunset, Hebrew calendar, alarms, PostScript output, tcl/tk front-end and proper handling of holidays.

Tkremind provides a GUI which allows viewing a calendar and adding or editing reminders without learning the syntax of Remind.

There are three methods to install tkremind on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install tkremind Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install tkremind using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install tkremind

Install tkremind Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install tkremind using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
