How To Install tkrat on Debian 9
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install tkrat
on Debian 9.
What is tkrat
tkrat is:
TkRat is a graphical Mail User Agent (MUA) which handles MIME. It is mainly written in C but the user interface is done in tcl/tk.
The program currently understands unix mailboxes, POP, IMAP and mh folders. It can manage a database of messages associated to events triggered by elapsing time intervals. Messages are sent via SMTP or any user configured program (for example sendmail).
There are three methods to install tkrat
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tkrat Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tkrat
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tkrat

After updating apt database, We can install tkrat

sudo aptitude -y install tkrat
How To Uninstall tkrat on Debian 9
To uninstall only the tkrat
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tkrat
Uninstall tkrat And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tkrat
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tkrat
Remove tkrat Configurations and Data
To remove tkrat
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tkrat
