What is tk-table

tk-table is:

Provides support for tables and matrices in Tcl/Tk. The basic features of the widget are:

  • multi-line cells
  • support for embedded windows (one per cell)
  • row & column spanning
  • variable width columns / height rows (interactively resizable)
  • row and column titles
  • multiple data sources ((Tcl array || Tcl command) &| internal caching)
  • supports standard Tk reliefs, fonts, colors, etc.
  • x/y scrollbar support
  • ’tag’ styles per row, column or cell to change visual appearance
  • in-cell editing - returns value back to data source
  • support for disabled (read-only) tables or cells (via tags)
  • multiple selection modes, with “active” cell
  • multiple drawing modes to get optimal performance for larger tables
  • optional ‘flashes’ when things update
  • cell validation support
  • Works everywhere Tk does (including Windows and Mac!)

This package is sufficient to run and link against tkTable.

There are three methods to install tk-table on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install tk-table Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install tk-table using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install tk-table

Install tk-table Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install tk-table using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install tk-table

Install tk-table Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install tk-table using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install tk-table

How To Uninstall tk-table on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the tk-table package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove tk-table

Uninstall tk-table And Its Dependencies

To uninstall tk-table and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove tk-table

Remove tk-table Configurations and Data

To remove tk-table configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge tk-table

Remove tk-table configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove tk-table configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tk-table
