What is tigervnc

Virtual Network Computing (VNC) is a remote display system which allows you to view a computing ‘desktop’ environment not only on the machine where it is running, but from anywhere on the Internet and from a wide variety of machine architectures. This package contains a client which will allow you to connect to other desktops running a VNC server.

We can use yum or dnf to install tigervnc on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install tigervnc.

Install tigervnc on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install tigervnc using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install tigervnc

Install tigervnc on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install tigervnc using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install tigervnc

How To Uninstall tigervnc on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the tigervnc package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove tigervnc
