What is thunar-volman

The Thunar Volume Manager is an extension for the Thunar file manager, which enables automatic management of removable drives and media. For example, if thunar-volman is installed and configured properly, and you plug in your digital camera, it will automatically launch your preferred photo application and import the new pictures from the camera into your photo collection.

We can use yum or dnf to install thunar-volman on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install thunar-volman.

Install thunar-volman on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install thunar-volman using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install thunar-volman

Install thunar-volman on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install thunar-volman using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install thunar-volman

How To Uninstall thunar-volman on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the thunar-volman package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove thunar-volman
