How To Install tgt-dbg on Debian 9

on Debian 9.
What is tgt-dbg
tgt-dbg is:
The Linux target framework (tgt) allows a Linux system to provide SCSI devices (targets) over networked SCSI transports.
tgt consists of a user-space daemon and user-space tools currently supporting the following transports:
- iSCSI (SCSI over IP)
- iSER (iSCSI over RDMA, using Infiniband)
tgt also supports different storage types for use as backing stores for SCSI Logical Units:
- Plain files and block devices
- Ceph/RADOS RBD volumes
- GlusterFS volumes
This package contains symbols used for debugging tgt.
There are three methods to install tgt-dbg
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tgt-dbg Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tgt-dbg
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tgt-dbg
Install tgt-dbg Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tgt-dbg
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tgt-dbg
Install tgt-dbg Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tgt-dbg
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tgt-dbg
How To Uninstall tgt-dbg on Debian 9
To uninstall only the tgt-dbg
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tgt-dbg
Uninstall tgt-dbg And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tgt-dbg
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tgt-dbg
Remove tgt-dbg Configurations and Data
To remove tgt-dbg
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tgt-dbg
Remove tgt-dbg configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove tgt-dbg
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tgt-dbg
