How To Install tfortune on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install tfortune on Kali Linux.

What is tfortune

tfortune is:

Like fortune(6), tfortune is a Unix command line utility which prints a random epigram. Epigrams are stored as plain text files, but they must be annotated with tags to make full use of the features which tfortune offers over other implementations.

Tfortune has a built-in matching language for epigrams. User-supplied tag expressions define subsets of admissible epigrams. If a tag expression is given, epigrams are picked from the admissible subset only.

There are three methods to install tfortune on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install tfortune Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install tfortune using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install tfortune

Install tfortune Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install tfortune using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install tfortune

Install tfortune Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install tfortune using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install tfortune

How To Uninstall tfortune on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the tfortune package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove tfortune

Uninstall tfortune And Its Dependencies

To uninstall tfortune and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove tfortune

Remove tfortune Configurations and Data

To remove tfortune configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge tfortune

Remove tfortune configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove tfortune configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
