In this tutorial we learn how to install textcat
on CentOS 7.
What is textcat
TextCat is an implementation of the text categorization algorithm presented in Cavnar, W. B. and J. M. Trenkle, “N-Gram-Based Text Categorization”. TextCat uses this the technique to implement a written language identification. At the moment, it knows about 69 natural languages (counting Esperanto as a natural language).
We can use yum
or dnf
to install textcat
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install textcat.

Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install textcat
using yum
