In this tutorial we learn how to install texlive-mptopdf on CentOS 7.

What is texlive-mptopdf

The mptopdf script does standalone conversion from mpost to PDF, using the supp-* and syst-* files. They also allow native MetaPost graphics inclusion in LaTeX (via pdftex.def) and ConTeXt. They can be used independently of the rest of ConTeXt, yet are maintained as part of it. So in TeX Live we pull them out to this separate package for the benefit of LaTeX users who do not install the rest of ConTeXt. This can be found on CTAN in macros/pdftex/graphics.

We can use yum or dnf to install texlive-mptopdf on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install texlive-mptopdf.

Install texlive-mptopdf on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install texlive-mptopdf using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install texlive-mptopdf

Install texlive-mptopdf on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install texlive-mptopdf using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install texlive-mptopdf

How To Uninstall texlive-mptopdf on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the texlive-mptopdf package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove texlive-mptopdf
