What is texlive-media9
The package provides an interface to embed interactive Flash (SWF) and 3D objects (Adobe U3D & PRC), as well as video and sound files or streams in the popular MP4, FLV and MP3 formats into PDF documents with Acrobat-9/X compatibility. Playback of multimedia files uses the built-in Flash Player of Adobe Reader and does, therefore, not depend on external plug-ins. Flash Player supports the efficient H.264 codec for video compression. The package is based on the RichMedia Annotation, an Adobe addition to the PDF specification. It replaces the now obsolete movie15 package.
We can use yum or dnf to install texlive-media9 on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install texlive-media9.
Install texlive-media9 on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install texlive-media9 using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install texlive-media9
Install texlive-media9 on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install texlive-media9 using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install texlive-media9
How To Uninstall texlive-media9 on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the texlive-media9 package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove texlive-media9
