What is texlive-ly1

The Y&Y ’texnansi’ (TeX and ANSI, for Microsoft interpretations of ANSI standards) encoding lives on, even after the decease of the company; it is known in the LaTeX scheme of things as LY1 encoding. This bundle includes metrics and LaTeX macros to use the basic three (Times, Helvetica and Courier) Adobe Type 1 fonts in LaTeX using LY1 encoding.

We can use yum or dnf to install texlive-ly1 on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install texlive-ly1.

Install texlive-ly1 on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install texlive-ly1 using yum by running the following command:

Install texlive-ly1 on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install texlive-ly1 using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install texlive-ly1

How To Uninstall texlive-ly1 on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the texlive-ly1 package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove texlive-ly1
