What is texlive
The TeX Live software distribution offers a complete TeX system for a variety of Unix, Macintosh, Windows and other platforms. It encompasses programs for editing, typesetting, previewing and printing of TeX documents in many different languages, and a large collection of TeX macros and font libraries. The distribution includes extensive general documentation about TeX, as well as the documentation for the included software packages.
We can use yum or dnf to install texlive on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install texlive.
Install texlive on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install texlive using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install texlive
Install texlive on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install texlive using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install texlive
How To Uninstall texlive on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the texlive package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove texlive
