How To Install texinfo on Kali Linux

What is texinfo

texinfo is:

Texinfo is a documentation system that uses a single source file to produce both on-line information and printed output.

Using Texinfo, you can create a printed document with the normal features of a book, including chapters, sections, cross references, and indices. From the same Texinfo source file, you can create a menu-driven, on-line Info file with nodes, menus, cross references, and indices.

There are three methods to install texinfo on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install texinfo Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install texinfo using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install texinfo

Install texinfo Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install texinfo using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install texinfo

Install texinfo Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install texinfo using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install texinfo

How To Uninstall texinfo on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the texinfo package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove texinfo

Uninstall texinfo And Its Dependencies

To uninstall texinfo and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove texinfo

Remove texinfo Configurations and Data

To remove texinfo configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge texinfo

Remove texinfo configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove texinfo configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge texinfo
