How To Install tex-gyre on Debian 9

on Debian 9.
What is tex-gyre
tex-gyre is:
The TeX Gyre project, following the Latin Modern project, aims at providing a rich collection of diacritical characters in the attempt to cover as many Latin-based scripts as possible.
This package provides TeX support and Type1 (PostScript) fonts. If only the OpenType fonts are needed, please see the package fonts-texgyre.

There are three methods to install tex-gyre
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tex-gyre Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tex-gyre
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tex-gyre
Install tex-gyre Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tex-gyre
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tex-gyre
Install tex-gyre Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tex-gyre
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tex-gyre
How To Uninstall tex-gyre on Debian 9
To uninstall only the tex-gyre
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tex-gyre
Uninstall tex-gyre And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tex-gyre
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tex-gyre
Remove tex-gyre Configurations and Data
To remove tex-gyre
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tex-gyre
Remove tex-gyre configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove tex-gyre
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tex-gyre
