How To Install testdrive-common on Ubuntu 18.04

In this tutorial we learn how to install testdrive-common
on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is testdrive-common
testdrive-common is:
Testdrive helps you download and run the daily Ubuntu development ISO in a virtual machine on your local hardware.
It is strongly recommended that you have a CPU with VT and sufficient memory on your system to host virtual machines. In this case, testdrive will use KVM to host your virtual machines.
Alternatively, you can use VirtualBox.
This package contains the common files used by the different Testdrive front-ends.
There are three methods to install testdrive-common
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install testdrive-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install testdrive-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install testdrive-common
Install testdrive-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install testdrive-common
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install testdrive-common
Install testdrive-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install testdrive-common
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install testdrive-common
How To Uninstall testdrive-common on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the testdrive-common
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove testdrive-common
Uninstall testdrive-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall testdrive-common
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove testdrive-common
Remove testdrive-common Configurations and Data
To remove testdrive-common
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge testdrive-common
