How To Install terraintool on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install terraintool on Kali Linux.

What is terraintool

terraintool is:

This tool generates terrain meshes for cave survey tools from online terrain altitude datasets. It uses the NASA SRTM and later NASADEM datasets (The latter has the voids removed using ASTER data). The relevant data is downloaded and excerpted, geolocated to the desired co-ordinate system, resampled to a mesh grid, an offset to local grid added if required, the result displayed, and saved in survex (.svx) or therion (.th) format. It is written in java.

There are three methods to install terraintool on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install terraintool Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install terraintool using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install terraintool using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install terraintool

How To Uninstall terraintool on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the terraintool package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove terraintool

Uninstall terraintool And Its Dependencies

To uninstall terraintool and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove terraintool

Remove terraintool Configurations and Data

To remove terraintool configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge terraintool
