How To Install telnet-ssl on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install telnet-ssl on Kali Linux.
What is telnet-ssl
telnet-ssl is:
The telnet command is used for interactive communication with another host using the TELNET protocol.
SSL telnet replaces normal telnet using SSL authentication and encryption. It interoperates with normal telnetd in both directions. It checks if the other side is also talking SSL, if not it falls back to normal telnet protocol.
Advantages over normal telnet: Your passwords and the data you send will not go in cleartext over the line. Nobody can get it with tcpdump or similar tools. With SSLtelnet you can also connect to https-server like https://www.mozilla.org. Just do ’telnet -z ssl www.mozilla.org 443'
There are three methods to install telnet-ssl on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install telnet-ssl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install telnet-ssl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install telnet-sslInstall telnet-ssl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install telnet-ssl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install telnet-sslInstall telnet-ssl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install telnet-ssl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install telnet-sslHow To Uninstall telnet-ssl on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the telnet-ssl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove telnet-sslUninstall telnet-ssl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall telnet-ssl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove telnet-sslRemove telnet-ssl Configurations and Data
To remove telnet-ssl configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge telnet-sslRemove telnet-ssl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove telnet-ssl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge telnet-sslDependencies
