How To Install tcpxtract on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install tcpxtract on Kali Linux.
What is tcpxtract
tcpxtract is:
tcpxtract is a fast console tool to extract files from network traffic based on file headers and footers and its patterns (so called carving).
Currently, 26 file formats are supported out of the box by tcpxtract but new formats can be added without problems. Foremost configurations are simple to convert to tcpxtract configuration files.
tcpxtract uses libpcap. So, it can read network dumps generated by tcpdump or wireshark or similar programs. tcpxtract is useful in network auditing and for forensics investigations.
There are three methods to install tcpxtract on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tcpxtract Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install tcpxtract using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tcpxtractInstall tcpxtract Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install tcpxtract using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install tcpxtract using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the tcpxtract package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tcpxtractUninstall tcpxtract And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tcpxtract and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tcpxtractRemove tcpxtract Configurations and Data
To remove tcpxtract configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tcpxtractRemove tcpxtract configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove tcpxtract configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
