Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install tcpflow
on CentOS 7.
What is tcpflow
tcpflow is a program that captures data transmitted as part of TCP connections (flows), and stores the data in a way that is convenient for protocol analysis or debugging. A program like ’tcpdump’ shows a summary of packets seen on the wire, but usually doesn’t store the data that’s actually being transmitted. In contrast, tcpflow reconstructs the actual data streams and stores each flow in a separate file for later analysis.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install tcpflow
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install tcpflow.
Install tcpflow on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
After updating yum database, We can install tcpflow
using yum
by running the following command:

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
