How To Install tclws on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install tclws on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is tclws
tclws is:
The package provides a Tcl implementation of both client side access to Web Services and server side creation of Web Services. Currently only document/literal and rpc/encoded with HTTP Soap transport are supported on the client side. The server side code currently works with several web servers

- Apache with Rivet (Debian package libapache2-mod-rivet)

- Microsoft Internet Information Server
The server side code can also be embedded in other application (see Tcl Web services provide all services as document/literal over HTTP Soap transport. The package ships also HTML documentation and coding examples
There are three methods to install tclws on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install tclws Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install tclws using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install tclws
Install tclws Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install tclws using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install tclws
Install tclws Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install tclws using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install tclws
How To Uninstall tclws on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the tclws package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove tclws
Uninstall tclws And Its Dependencies
To uninstall tclws and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove tclws
Remove tclws Configurations and Data
To remove tclws configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge tclws
Remove tclws configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove tclws configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge tclws
