How To Install systemtap on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install systemtap on Kali Linux.
What is systemtap
systemtap is:
SystemTap provides infrastructure to simplify the gathering of information about the running Linux system. This assists diagnosis of a performance or functional problem. SystemTap eliminates the need for the developer to go through the tedious and disruptive instrument, recompile, install, and reboot sequence that may be otherwise required to collect data.
SystemTap provides a simple command line interface and scripting language for writing instrumentation for a live running system.
There are three methods to install systemtap on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install systemtap Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install systemtap using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install systemtapInstall systemtap Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install systemtap using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install systemtapInstall systemtap Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install systemtap using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install systemtapHow To Uninstall systemtap on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the systemtap package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove systemtapUninstall systemtap And Its Dependencies
To uninstall systemtap and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove systemtapRemove systemtap Configurations and Data
To remove systemtap configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge systemtapRemove systemtap configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove systemtap configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge systemtapDependencies
