How To Install systemtap-client on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install systemtap-client on Kali Linux.
What is systemtap-client
systemtap-client is:
This package contains client for SystemTap compile server. It can be used to compile probes on a remote machine running systemtap-server. This client can be run on a machine without full kernel debug information and development environment required for ‘systemtap’ package.
If you only want to compile systemtap probes locally just install ‘systemtap’ package.
SystemTap provides infrastructure to simplify the gathering of information about the running Linux system.
There are three methods to install systemtap-client on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install systemtap-client Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install systemtap-client using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install systemtap-clientInstall systemtap-client Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install systemtap-client using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install systemtap-clientInstall systemtap-client Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install systemtap-client using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install systemtap-clientHow To Uninstall systemtap-client on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the systemtap-client package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove systemtap-clientUninstall systemtap-client And Its Dependencies
To uninstall systemtap-client and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove systemtap-clientRemove systemtap-client Configurations and Data
To remove systemtap-client configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge systemtap-clientRemove systemtap-client configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove systemtap-client configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge systemtap-clientDependencies
