What is systemd-sysv

systemd-sysv is:

systemd is a system and service manager for Linux. It provides aggressive parallelization capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting services, offers on-demand starting of daemons, keeps track of processes using Linux control groups, maintains mount and automount points and implements an elaborate transactional dependency-based service control logic.

systemd is compatible with SysV and LSB init scripts and can work as a drop-in replacement for sysvinit.

This package provides the manual pages and links needed for systemd to replace sysvinit. Installing systemd-sysv will overwrite /sbin/init with a link to systemd.

There are three methods to install systemd-sysv on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install systemd-sysv Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install systemd-sysv using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install systemd-sysv

Install systemd-sysv Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install systemd-sysv using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install systemd-sysv

Install systemd-sysv Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install systemd-sysv using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install systemd-sysv

How To Uninstall systemd-sysv on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the systemd-sysv package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove systemd-sysv

Uninstall systemd-sysv And Its Dependencies

To uninstall systemd-sysv and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove systemd-sysv

Remove systemd-sysv Configurations and Data

To remove systemd-sysv configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge systemd-sysv

Remove systemd-sysv configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove systemd-sysv configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge systemd-sysv
