What is syslog-ng-mod-getent

syslog-ng-mod-getent is:

syslog-ng is an enhanced log daemon, supporting a wide range of input and output methods: syslog, unstructured text, message queues, databases (SQL and NoSQL alike) and more.

This package provides getent module which allows querying the Name Service Switch library to convert UIDs to names, protocol names to port number and much more.
