How To Install syncthing-tools on CentOS 8

What is syncthing-tools
Syncthing replaces other file synchronization services with something open, trustworthy and decentralized. Your data is your data alone and you deserve to choose where it is stored, if it is shared with some third party and how it’s transmitted over the Internet. Using syncthing, that control is returned to you. This package contains the main syncthing server tools * strelaysrv / strelaypoolsrv, the syncthing relay server for indirect file transfers between client nodes, and * stdiscosrv, the syncthing discovery server for discovering nodes to connect to indirectly over the internet.
We can use yum or dnf to install syncthing-tools on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install syncthing-tools.
Install syncthing-tools on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install syncthing-tools using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install syncthing-tools
Install syncthing-tools on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install syncthing-tools using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install syncthing-tools
How To Uninstall syncthing-tools on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the syncthing-tools package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove syncthing-tools
