How To Install sync-ui on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sync-ui on Debian 12.
What is sync-ui
sync-ui is:
SyncEvolution synchronizes contact, calendar and task items via SyncML and CalDAV/CardDAV with other servers or devices. It uses the Evolution Data Server to sync PIM data in Evolution, but a plain file storage is also supported. Data exchange can happen via HTTP(S) and Bluetooth. Full, one-way and incremental synchronization of items are supported. SyncEvolution can act as a SyncML/DAV client and SyncML server.
This package provides a GTK+ graphical user interface.
There are three methods to install sync-ui on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sync-ui Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sync-ui using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sync-ui
Install sync-ui Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install sync-ui using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sync-ui
Install sync-ui Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install sync-ui using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sync-ui
How To Uninstall sync-ui on Debian 12
To uninstall only the sync-ui package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sync-ui
Uninstall sync-ui And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sync-ui and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sync-ui
Remove sync-ui Configurations and Data
To remove sync-ui configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sync-ui
Remove sync-ui configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sync-ui configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sync-ui
