How To Install switcheroo-control on Ubuntu 18.04

What is switcheroo-control

For systems that have both an integrated GPU and a dedicated GPU, this package by default will force the integrated GPU to be used to save power.
You can launch individual apps using the dedicated GPU by running them with the environment variable DRI_PRIME=1. Or you can right-click on the app (while it’s not running) in GNOME Shell’s Activities Overview and choose the “Launch using Dedicated Graphics Card” option.
If this default behavior is not appropriate, uninstall this package or set xdg.force_integrated=0 as a kernel command-line option in your bootloader.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install switcheroo-control using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install switcheroo-control
How To Uninstall switcheroo-control on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the switcheroo-control package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove switcheroo-control
Uninstall switcheroo-control And Its Dependencies
To uninstall switcheroo-control and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove switcheroo-control
Remove switcheroo-control Configurations and Data
To remove switcheroo-control configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge switcheroo-control
