How To Install swac-get on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install swac-get on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is swac-get
swac-get is:
Swac-get is a simple command line program written in C++ which allows to install audio collections of words (SWAC) in a SQLite3 database. Audio collections can be imported from the hard drive or directly from the Internet using the HTTP protocol. Swac-get is designed to be used with swac-explore, a GTK+ interface which allows to browse the created SQLite3 database. An important set of free audio collections of words (SWAC) is available at: http://swac-collections.org/
There are three methods to install swac-get on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install swac-get Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install swac-get using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install swac-get
Install swac-get Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install swac-get using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install swac-get
Install swac-get Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install swac-get using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install swac-get
How To Uninstall swac-get on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the swac-get package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove swac-get
Uninstall swac-get And Its Dependencies
To uninstall swac-get and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove swac-get
Remove swac-get Configurations and Data
To remove swac-get configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge swac-get
Remove swac-get configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove swac-get configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge swac-get
