What is suricata-oinkmaster

suricata-oinkmaster is:

Suricata is a network Intrusion Detection System (IDS). It is based on rules (and is fully compatible with snort rules) to detect a variety of attacks / probes by searching packet content.

This package contains the integration bits between suricata and oinkmaster to allow easy automated ruleset updates.

Install suricata-oinkmaster Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install suricata-oinkmaster using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

How To Uninstall suricata-oinkmaster on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall suricata-oinkmaster and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove suricata-oinkmaster

To remove suricata-oinkmaster configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge suricata-oinkmaster

We can use the following command to remove suricata-oinkmaster configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
