How To Install sundials on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install sundials on CentOS 7. sundials is Suite of nonlinear solvers

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install sundials on CentOS 7.

What is sundials

SUNDIALS is a SUite of Non-linear DIfferential/ALgebraic equation Solvers for use in writing mathematical software. SUNDIALS was implemented with the goal of providing robust time integrators and nonlinear solvers that can easily be incorporated into existing simulation codes. The primary design goals were to require minimal information from the user, allow users to easily supply their own data structures underneath the solvers, and allow for easy incorporation of user-supplied linear solvers and preconditioners.

We can use yum or dnf to install sundials on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install sundials.

Install sundials on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install sundials using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install sundials

Install sundials on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install sundials using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install sundials

How To Uninstall sundials on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the sundials package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove sundials
