How To Install subversion on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install subversion on Kali Linux.
What is subversion
subversion is:
Apache Subversion, also known as svn, is a centralised version control system. Version control systems allow many individuals (who may be distributed geographically) to collaborate on a set of files (source code, websites, etc). Subversion began with a CVS paradigm and supports all the major features of CVS, but has evolved to support many features that CVS users often wish they had.
This package includes the Subversion client (svn, svnsync), repository administration tools (svnadmin, svnlook) and a network server (svnserve).
There are three methods to install subversion on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install subversion Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install subversion using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install subversionInstall subversion Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install subversion using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install subversionInstall subversion Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install subversion using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install subversionHow To Uninstall subversion on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the subversion package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove subversionUninstall subversion And Its Dependencies
To uninstall subversion and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove subversionRemove subversion Configurations and Data
To remove subversion configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge subversionRemove subversion configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove subversion configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge subversionDependencies
