How To Install stubby on Debian 12

In this tutorial we learn how to install stubby
on Debian 12.
What is stubby
stubby is:
getdns is a modern asynchronous DNS API. It implements DNS entry points from a design developed and vetted by application developers, in an API specification edited by Paul Hoffman. This API intends to offer application developers a modernized and flexible way to access DNS security (DNSSEC) and other powerful new DNS features; a particular hope is to inspire application developers towards innovative security solutions in their applications.
This package contains stubby daemon - the DNS Privacy Stub Resolver.
There are three methods to install stubby
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install stubby Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install stubby
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install stubby

After updating apt database, We can install stubby

Install stubby Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude

After updating apt database, We can install stubby

How To Uninstall stubby on Debian 12
To uninstall only the stubby
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove stubby

To uninstall stubby

sudo apt-get -y autoremove stubby
Remove stubby Configurations and Data
To remove stubby
configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge stubby
