How To Install stress on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install stress on Kali Linux.
What is stress
stress is:
‘stress’ is a tool that imposes a configurable amount of CPU, memory, I/O, or disk stress on a POSIX-compliant operating system and reports any errors it detects.
‘stress’ is not a benchmark. It is a tool used by system administrators to evaluate how well their systems will scale, by kernel programmers to evaluate perceived performance characteristics, and by systems programmers to expose the classes of bugs which only or more frequently manifest themselves when the system is under heavy load.
There are three methods to install stress on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install stress Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install stress using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install stressInstall stress Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install stress using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install stressInstall stress Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install stress using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install stressHow To Uninstall stress on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the stress package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove stressUninstall stress And Its Dependencies
To uninstall stress and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove stressRemove stress Configurations and Data
To remove stress configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge stressRemove stress configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove stress configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge stressDependencies
