How To Install stow on Rocky Linux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install stow
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is stow
GNU Stow is a program for managing the installation of software packages, keeping them separate (/usr/local/stow/emacs vs. /usr/local/stow/perl, for example) while making them appear to be installed in the same place (/usr/local). Software to ease the keeping track of software built from source, making it easy to install, delete, move etc.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install stow
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install stow.
Install stow on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install stow
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install stow
Install stow on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install stow
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install stow
How To Uninstall stow on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the stow
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove stow
