How To Install stellarium on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install stellarium
on AlmaLinux 8.
What is stellarium
Stellarium is a real-time 3D photo-realistic nightsky renderer. It can generate images of the sky as seen through the Earth’s atmosphere with more than one hundred thousand stars from the Hipparcos Catalogue, constellations, planets, major satellites and nebulas.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install stellarium
on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install stellarium.
Install stellarium on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install stellarium
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install stellarium
Install stellarium on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install stellarium
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install stellarium
How To Uninstall stellarium on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the stellarium
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove stellarium
