How To Install starpu-top on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install starpu-top
on Debian 9.
What is starpu-top
starpu-top is:
StarPU is a runtime system that offers support for heterogeneous multicore machines. While many efforts are devoted to design efficient computation kernels for those architectures (e.g. to implement BLAS kernels on GPUs or on Cell’s SPUs), StarPU not only takes care of offloading such kernels (and implementing data coherency across the machine), but it also makes sure the kernels are executed as efficiently as possible.
This package contains a graphical top tool.
There are three methods to install starpu-top
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install starpu-top Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install starpu-top
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install starpu-top
Install starpu-top Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install starpu-top
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install starpu-top
Install starpu-top Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install starpu-top
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install starpu-top
How To Uninstall starpu-top on Debian 9
To uninstall only the starpu-top
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove starpu-top
Uninstall starpu-top And Its Dependencies
To uninstall starpu-top
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove starpu-top
Remove starpu-top Configurations and Data
To remove starpu-top
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge starpu-top
Remove starpu-top configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove starpu-top

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge starpu-top
