In this tutorial we learn how to install sslsplit on CentOS 7.

What is sslsplit

SSLsplit is a tool for man-in-the-middle attacks against SSL/TLS encrypted network connections. Connections are transparently intercepted through a network address translation engine and redirected to SSLsplit. SSLsplit terminates SSL/TLS and initiates a new SSL/TLS connection to the original destination address, while logging all data transmitted. SSLsplit is intended to be useful for network forensics and penetration testing. It uses Linux netfilter REDIRECT and TPROXY

We can use yum or dnf to install sslsplit on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install sslsplit.

Install sslsplit on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install sslsplit using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install sslsplit

Install sslsplit on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install sslsplit using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install sslsplit

How To Uninstall sslsplit on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the sslsplit package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove sslsplit
