How To Install sshfs on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sshfs on Kali Linux.
What is sshfs
sshfs is:
sshfs is a filesystem client based on the SSH File Transfer Protocol. Since most SSH servers already support this protocol it is very easy to set up: i.e. on the server side there’s nothing to do. On the client side mounting the filesystem is as easy as logging into the server with ssh.
sshfs is FUSE (Filesystem in USErspace).
There are three methods to install sshfs on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sshfs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sshfs using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sshfsInstall sshfs Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sshfs using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sshfsInstall sshfs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sshfs using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sshfsHow To Uninstall sshfs on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sshfs package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sshfsUninstall sshfs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sshfs and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sshfsRemove sshfs Configurations and Data
To remove sshfs configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sshfsRemove sshfs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sshfs configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sshfsDependencies
