What is sshfs

sshfs is:

sshfs is a filesystem client based on the SSH File Transfer Protocol. Since most SSH servers already support this protocol it is very easy to set up: i.e. on the server side there’s nothing to do. On the client side mounting the filesystem is as easy as logging into the server with ssh.

sshfs is FUSE (Filesystem in USErspace).

There are three methods to install sshfs on Debian 11. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install sshfs Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install sshfs using apt-get by running the following command:

After updating apt database, We can install sshfs using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo apt-get remove sshfs

sudo apt-get -y autoremove sshfs

To remove sshfs configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
