How To Install ssg-base on Ubuntu 20.04

on Ubuntu 20.04.
What is ssg-base
ssg-base is:
This package contains the basic content and manual pages explaining how the SCAP-security-guide works. It deploys man page and all various information about current SSG release.
SCAP (Security Content Automation Protocol) is a set of standards used in order to automatically manage vulnerabilities and policy compliance evaluation on a complete deployed infrastructure. SSG provides various official policies such as PCI-DSS, NIST SP-800-53 or ANSSI best practices as official policies.
There are three methods to install ssg-base
on Ubuntu 20.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ssg-base Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ssg-base
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ssg-base
Install ssg-base Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ssg-base
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ssg-base
Install ssg-base Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ssg-base
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ssg-base
How To Uninstall ssg-base on Ubuntu 20.04
To uninstall only the ssg-base
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ssg-base
Uninstall ssg-base And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ssg-base
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 20.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ssg-base
Remove ssg-base Configurations and Data
To remove ssg-base
configuration and data from Ubuntu 20.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ssg-base
Remove ssg-base configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ssg-base
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ssg-base
