How To Install ssg-applications on Ubuntu 18.04

What is ssg-applications
ssg-applications is:
This package contains all the SCAP guides, benchmarks and remediation files for userspace applications. Remediation files are Shell-based, Ansible-based and Puppet-based depending on the target infrastructure deployment policy.
SCAP (Security Content Automation Protocol) is a set of standards used in order to automatically manage vulnerabilities and policy compliance evaluation on a complete deployed infrastructure. SSG provides various official policies such as PCI-DSS, NIST SP-800-53 or ANSSI best practices as official policies.
There are three methods to install ssg-applications on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ssg-applications Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install ssg-applications using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ssg-applications
Install ssg-applications Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install ssg-applications using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install ssg-applications
Install ssg-applications Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install ssg-applications using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ssg-applications
How To Uninstall ssg-applications on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the ssg-applications package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ssg-applications
Uninstall ssg-applications And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ssg-applications and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ssg-applications
Remove ssg-applications Configurations and Data
To remove ssg-applications configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ssg-applications
Remove ssg-applications configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove ssg-applications configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge ssg-applications
