How To Install srs on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install srs on Kali Linux.
What is srs
srs is:
The Sender Rewriting Scheme preserves .forward functionality in an SPF-compliant world.
SPF requires the SMTP client IP to match the envelope sender (return-path). When a message is forwarded through an intermediate server, that intermediate server may need to rewrite the return-path to remain SPF compliant. If the message bounces, that intermediate server needs to validate the bounce and forward the bounce to the original sender.
This package contains the srs client that can be used in your .forward files.
There are three methods to install srs on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install srs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install srs using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install srsInstall srs Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install srs using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install srsInstall srs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the srs package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove srsUninstall srs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall srs and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove srsRemove srs Configurations and Data
To remove srs configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge srsRemove srs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
