How To Install srf-doc on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install srf-doc on Kali Linux.
What is srf-doc
srf-doc is:
SRF (sort for Sequence Read Format) is a generic format capable of storing data generated by any DNA sequencing technology. Hence it has sufficient flexibility to store data from current and future DNA sequencing technologies at minimal cost of implementation. Benefits include a single input file format for all downstream applications and a read lookup index enabling downstream formats to reference reads without duplication of all of the read specific information.
This package contains the version 1.3.2 of the specification.
There are three methods to install srf-doc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install srf-doc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install srf-doc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install srf-docInstall srf-doc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install srf-doc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install srf-docInstall srf-doc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install srf-doc using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the srf-doc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove srf-docUninstall srf-doc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall srf-doc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove srf-docRemove srf-doc Configurations and Data
To remove srf-doc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge srf-docRemove srf-doc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
