How To Install sqlmap on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install sqlmap on Kali Linux.
What is sqlmap
sqlmap is:
sqlmap goal is to detect and take advantage of SQL injection vulnerabilities in web applications. Once it detects one or more SQL injections on the target host, the user can choose among a variety of options to perform an extensive back-end database management system fingerprint, retrieve DBMS session user and database, enumerate users, password hashes, privileges, databases, dump entire or user’s specific DBMS tables/columns, run his own SQL statement, read specific files on the file system and more.
There are three methods to install sqlmap on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install sqlmap Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sqlmap using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install sqlmapInstall sqlmap Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sqlmap using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install sqlmapInstall sqlmap Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install sqlmap using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sqlmapHow To Uninstall sqlmap on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the sqlmap package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sqlmapUninstall sqlmap And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sqlmap and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sqlmapRemove sqlmap Configurations and Data
To remove sqlmap configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sqlmapRemove sqlmap configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove sqlmap configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge sqlmapDependencies
