How To Install spline on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install spline on Debian 9. spline is Akima spline interpolation

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install spline on Debian 9.

What is spline

spline is:

aspline(1) interpolates an Akima-spline through a series of given points. The Akima-spline interpolation approximates a manually drawn curve better than the ordinary splines, but the second derivative is not continuous.

The Akima-spline algorithm is described in “A New Method of Interpolation and Smooth Curve Fitting Based on Local Procedures”, H. Akima, J. Assoc. Comput. Mach., 17(4), 1970, pp. 589-602. doi:10.1145/321607.321609

There are three methods to install spline on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install spline Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install spline using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install spline

Install spline Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install spline using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install spline

Install spline Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install spline using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install spline

How To Uninstall spline on Debian 9

To uninstall only the spline package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove spline

Uninstall spline And Its Dependencies

To uninstall spline and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove spline

Remove spline Configurations and Data

To remove spline configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge spline

Remove spline configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove spline configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge spline

Dependencies

spline have the following dependencies:
