How To Install sphinxsearch on Debian 10

What is sphinxsearch

Sphinx is a standalone full text search engine, meant to provide fast, size-efficient and relevant fulltext search functions to other applications. Sphinx was specially designed to integrate well with SQL databases and scripting languages. Currently built-in data sources support fetching data either via direct connection to MySQL or PostgreSQL, or using XML pipe mechanism (a pipe to indexer in special XML-based format which Sphinx recognizes).
Sphinx is an acronym which is officially decoded as SQL Phrase Index.
There are three methods to install sphinxsearch
on Debian 10. We can use apt-get

and aptitude

Install sphinxsearch Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install sphinxsearch

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install sphinxsearch
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install sphinxsearch
How To Uninstall sphinxsearch on Debian 10
To uninstall only the sphinxsearch
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove sphinxsearch
Uninstall sphinxsearch And Its Dependencies
To uninstall sphinxsearch
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove sphinxsearch
Remove sphinxsearch Configurations and Data
To remove sphinxsearch
configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge sphinxsearch
